Health care professionals and LGBT health organizations are hosting a free forum on Sept. 30, 2008 to address health issues among gay and bisexual men. Beyond HIV, held at Macalester College’s John B. Davis Lecture Hall, will focus on the unique health care needs of our community. With a panel of the community’s most respected physicians and researchers, gay and bisexual men will learn how to find a doctor they can be comfortable with, how to talk about tough issues with their physician and what tests and screenings are important for overall health.
“HIV is a critical concern for gay and bisexual men,” said Andy Birkey, Health Education Coordinator for PrideAlive, a program of the Minnesota AIDS Project. “While attention to prevention and treatment is a foremost priority amongst the community’s health care needs, information about other health care needs is vital to overall health.”
